You need to export an database Backup and reimport it in a smaller database file you've created.

I don't think you can compress that. You could do it by creating a new database and restoring yours but still you would need some extra space to restore the backup. You could try by creating a new database with the minimum space and expanding it as mush as needed during backaup restoration.

Why do you want this anyway? Is it some database that won't grow more?

Anyway, maybe someone else knows a better way.

Taking a backup and restoring it into a new database is ofcourse a last option which i will do. I just wanted to know if thr is a shortcut for this.

Actually i want to copy this database to 3 developers laptop for local testing and development purpose. I thought they need not waste 1.5 gb and can compress it to 700mb or something and use it.

So thr is no other way other than the option mentioned above?

Back it up and provide the *.fbk to each developer. Then they can create whatever size database file they desire and restore.
There are no bugs - only undocumented features.
