Does anyone know if it can be done. I have tried it and the install goes well, however when I try to run the client it gives me a error: navision client executable for SQL server has stopped working . Then nothing....
I hope someone can help me as I dont want to upgrade now to 5.0 sp1. (no support for outlook integration)

You need at least hotfix 1 for 4.0SP3. See http://dynamicsuser.net/blogs/waldo/archive/2009/07/13/platform-updates-overview-3-70-b-nav2009-sp1-ctp2-updated.aspx for more info.Regards,Alain Krikilion

Do you mean update 6.1 ? Because update 1 to 6 are included in 4.0 SP3.0

Update 1 should fix it the problem (4.0SP3 on Vista/Win2008). (The error reminds of this problem).
What is the build of your NAV-client (Help=>about and then double click on the version)? (If you get this far at least..).
Another advice is to always install the latest hotfix of NAV if you use SQL.Regards,Alain Krikilion

The client install is working now \:D/ , however I now have to convert the database (64 bit ???) and it gives me a error. (see attachment)
Do you know what is wrong?0 -
The reason you need to convert the DB is because of a new version of the client.
Something I forgot to mention: if it is a test-DB, you can do it. If it is a DB of a customer for which you want to modify objects, you should also upgrade your customer.
Otherwise you need to do as I do: I have a virtual machine with Windows 2003 (or XP) in which I have older clients.
Another possibility : Go to Windows 7. The older versions work with it if you launch them in XP-mode.
To convert a DB, it is best you are DBadmin in SQL server.Regards,Alain Krikilion

It is a test DB but the conversion process gives me an error (see image). The 2008 server 64 bit is a citrix farm. I would like to convert.0

Like I wrote: probably you don't have enough privileges.Mark77 wrote:It is a test DB but the conversion process gives me an error (see image). The 2008 server 64 bit is a citrix farm. I would like to convert.
Or some trigger has been deleted directly in SQL. If there are no data in the table, try to delete the table. (you have to connect with NAV through a Win2003 or XP machine).Regards,Alain Krikilion

Converting wont work. However if I use the Backup function in Nav in the 32 bit client and restore it in an newly created database in the 64 bit environment, it works. Then it is also possible to use both clients to connect to the database, without asking for conversion. :-k strange.... Thanks for your help.0
