Hi ,

What is the actual use of Item category code and Product group code, I read the help , but if some one be more specific it wud of great help.

Item Category Code helps you to define new items. By selecting the correct Category, the posting groups and other fields could be filled in by correct defaults for the category.

From the help (F1 when the courser is in the field):

Item Category Code Field

This field contains the item category code for this item. The code specifies the default general product posting group, default inventory posting group, default VAT product posting group code and default costing method for the item.

To see the item categories in the Item Category table, click the AssistButton to the right of the field.



Product Group Code Field


This field contains the product group code that indicates the type of product this item belongs to (for example, paint, tools, batteries).

The program copies the product group code from the Item table when the No. field on the item card is filled in.
