Can you please provide a link to document having details of activities done by DBA on regular basis, activities done daily, weekly and monthly. If no such document exists, then please provide some insight in these activities.
I guess that could be said for every question posted here, maybe there shouldn't even be a forumn to ask questions, we could all just goggle or bing it.
The activity of a DBA for NAV db is no different than any other db that a Company has.
When the db is created, you setup jobs to rebuild indexes, and update statistic nightly.
You create a separate job to do full and log file backups.
Once the db starts growing, you start monitoring the sql server for performance issues.
I use query profiler to see if there any queries that take too long, I monitor also locking that users get.
In the mean time you learn about the application. You need to learn all the tables and how they are used, and how information flows through the system.
Users will start asking for reports so most DBA build a reporting db and start writting reports using SSRS.
I would say that if you a DBA job for NAV will get boring very soon, because after a couple of months, you'll have nothing to do.
I would start learning the application and start learning the programming environment.
For me the most exciting area right now is learning about how companies do business and how to find solution for the business requirements. What makes it even more exciting is when it's a simple solution.

I am not against the questions being asked and answers/suggestions given by members but something is missing in the current post. The author of the post has not made an effort to find the answer but just asked in the forum believing that somebody will feed the knowledge in him. This is happening a lot on the forum these days and I am getting sick of it ](*,) ](*,)
Sandeep,
With all due respect, would you be kind enough to point out the post which you feel is like spoon feeding?
I had done enough googling before posting here to find out the activities of DBA, but could find the things only specific to Oracle or other databases, not related to NAV.
2. Do you feel the post related to copying the Kitting functionality, is expecting spoon feeding?
As someone already said that "Google/ bing" can be the answer to any query and then Luc doesn't need to run this site.
One should have a control on FRUSTRATIONS.
