URGENT! Data Retrival through Look up

i would like to have a lookup field in salesorder lineitem form, where 4 eg..i want a lookup in the description2 field(salesorder lineitems).From this desc2,i want to select a value from another table say(item master or vendor master.or any other table....).

when i invoke the lookup i need particular field to select and appear in the desc2 field of saleslineitem form.
iam a newbie and tried something but i can't...will it be done with/without coding.plz give me the steps...
iam using
nav2009,classic client,sqlserver2008......
