HI,
Allow G/L deletion before :
Help says :
The date in this field determines if and when G/L accounts can be deleted. If you enter a date in this field, G/L accounts with entries on or after this date cannot be deleted.
Example : I created a account : ABC 010 on 07/25/09.
In nG/L ledger setup - Allow G/L deletion before Value : 07/28/09
system date = 07/28/09
the Account ABC 010 does not have any enties.
when press F4 automatically the account deleted .
Then what is use of this field Allow G/L deletion before .
let me know the solution.

If you read the help more carefully you will find the following words:hansika wrote:If you enter a date in this field, G/L accounts with entries on or after this date cannot be deleted.
"with entries" means posted G/L entries.CA Sandeep Singla

Thanks sandeep ji,
if G/L account has entries then system does not allow to delete that account.
when i try to delete that account system throws this message.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic
Balance must be 0 in G/L Account No.='AB010'.
OK
then what is the use of this field G/L account deletion before.

Well clearly you would not want to delete a GL account with a balance - how would you reconcile your accounts???
However deleting one with a zero balance has no adverse affect. In previous versions however you could not do this if you had ledger entries, even if it was zero. Now you can, but it is date conrtolled - so you can delete old account no longer used after "x" years.
Essentially this field allows you to control from a date perspective the deletion of the accounts (where other standard criteria are met) when previously you could do nothing but leave it in the system (although sure there was a fidcal year restriction but not my area). The art of teaching is clarity and the art of learning is to listen0 -

Set the date to be your fiscal year or as far back as you want it to be depending upon the data legality retention derived from your local laws and auditors. The art of teaching is clarity and the art of learning is to listen0
