Upgrade Nav 4.0 to Nav 4.0 SP3, Nav 5.00 SP1 or Nav 2009?

Hello,

I have a customer that currently is working with Nav 4.0 with the database server. We want to upgrade because they want to install SQL but we don´t know which version to upgrade. Could you help me, please?

Although you could get many varying opinions i would take them up to nav 5.1 with SQL. Unless they have a particular reason to go to 2009.

A couple though only based on opinion.

Less change management for companies 4.0 to 5.1 is less end user training compared to the UI of 2009
Functionality of 5.1 essentially the sam same as 2009
5.1 has the latest fixes and usage of indexed views instead of index hinting.
NAV 2009 may not be out in your particular are yet (sept 2009 in SVE)
Seems you have no experiance with 2009 yet if you are asking this question so 5.1 may be safer.

There are other reasons but just read up about 5.1 vs 2009 to decide for yourself

in which country are you located.
You can go with 2009 classic and users wouldn't be able to tell difference between 5.0 sp1 and classic 2009.

Also if you are in Group 1 countries, SP1 for 2009 is coming out on Sept. 1st.

Wait for 2009 SP1 unless you really need to do the upgrade now.
