Inventory Automatic Cost Adjustment

Hi,
I need a clarification on the following: On the Inventory setup window, Automatic Cost Posting is checked and Automatic Cost Adjustment is set to Always.
If both of the above options are checked, is it necessary to run the Adjust Cost Item Entries batch job and Post Inventory Cost to G/L?
Thanks and Regards,
Bea.

You would think not, but in every case where I customer has this set I have found unadjusted entries.
So yes, even if just once a month.David Singleton0 -
Like David said yes.
I remember a presentor mentioned this in one of the NAV sessions back when 5.0 was released.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Just some additional suggestion.
I would uncheck the settings and run them as batch jobs overnight for performance reasons.0 -

Hello all,
Why? Why should we run the adjust cost item entries job even though the automatic cost adjustment set to always?Cem Karaer @ Pargesoft

It's because when you have negative Qty., Automatic Cost can't do anything.
You need to adjust it after inventory has been purchased.0 -
Hi,
I have a question regarding automatic cost adjustments. We are not using the automatic feature, so I have to run the procedure at the end of every day, is there a way of automate this to take place over night let's say?
Thank you

You can setup the adjust cost process to run using the NAS.
A little tweaking to hide the dialog is required on the process though.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Is there ANY documentation on what the Automatic Cost Adjustment does or does not do? All I can find are generic statements of functionality belied by this thread ... :^o0

That's an old post of mine. But there is another post that mentions that there was a bug in Automatic cost adjustment and it has been fixed so you don't have to run the report if you have it checked.0

Rashed, I can't find your post.
I am NOT concerned about understanding what Adjust Costs does. I have written processes that completely handle errors caused by older versions of Navision. I know what all the tables do and how to correct them. Once this is done we can turn Automatic Cost Posting even if the Item Ledger goes back to 1995.
I AM concerned about what AUTOMATIC Cost Adjustment does. It does NOT seem to include posting Item entries through the Job Journal. So it looks like you have to run the MANUAL Adjust Costs no matter what else you do. What I would like to know is just what does Automatic Cost Adjustments do or not do, because it does NOT seem to replace the Adjust Costs process.0 -

So you didn't get the "works as designed" answer? :^o0

yes you can schedule it using NAS and jobqueue. You'll need to make a couple of modifications. one lineers. such as setting default date and hiding dialog window.0
