Distribution groups with SMTP mail

I'm having a problem sending an email to and Exchange distribution group using the SMTP codeunit (400). I get a message saying "The email address "group@domain.com" is invalid.". Has anyone encountered this problem before, any ideas on how to resolve...? It works fine with a regular email address.

u got the problem with one or more maiadresses?
exist in these addresses characters <> Aa..zZ, 0..9, @ . - _ :?:

I seem to be having problems with any distribution list I try. I'm not using any special characters at: SOA@mydomain.com, ITNotifications@mydomain.com... Puzzling, I can send mail to these distribution groups from an outside address also using VS.Net... I don't have the Application Builder granule so I can't see the code in the 400 SMTP codeunit..

Try changing the e-mails to all lowercase.

It's a bug in 5.0 and is fixed 5.0 sp1.

why not apply nav 2009? Unless it is not released in your country.

We plan to upgrade to 2009 at some point and it is released in the US. I've been a little hesitent because I'm still pretty new to Nav and I've had heard that the upgrade path from 5.0 to 2009 is a pretty large undertaking. I'm guessing you've been through the upgrade process, does it leave much of a mess to clean up? How does it handle modifications?

If you upgrade to just 2009 classic, it is no different than 5.0 sp1, except with additional bug fixes.
