Non Inventory Items on Production BOM

Is this possible. Seems like it still wants to consume the item. How do must people handle these.
Looking for an item that is there for costing purposes, but is not "consumed" during the production. Such as bulk issued items, labels, sounds crazy but is SOP for some places to assign an ItemNo to documentation, and include in the BOM.

Thanks for any help!!!

There is nothing as such by default in NAV but for workarounds u can have Work Centers and there unit of measure as Pc have them "consumed" per unit.

But this will be part of ur routing not the actual BOM.

Most of the businesses I have dealt with consider dcumentation and labels stocked items as they need to control them and issue them, so yes I have had an item called "documentation". Where they are treated as non-stocked items they are not even included in the BOM and the cost of these items is set as an overhead % on teh parent.

If you do not keep inventory on these items, like Kapil said, you would setup these items as Machine or Work Centers. On the production journal, you would consume them appropriately.

Note that doing so will affect the cost of your item if you setup costs for the work center.
