Have you tried to re-download the binaries?

Try running setup.exe directly rather than using the install link on the Autorun screen.

I've found sometime that when I copy from drive to drive, or network/extranet to local that the files can go a bit squiffy, so I re-download them again to my local.

    Have you tried that?

I have just tried to re-download the NAV2009-installation package and neither does the setup.exe file or the install field in the autorun screen work!

Hmmm i feel like.... reinstalling windows!!

    Strange thing:
On another vista machine it worked as expected. On the bad one changing the user to domain admin helped, so the setup worked. It's a demo environment anyway, so I don't bother

I have seen this happen when windows installer are running something else in the background and when "setup.exe" or "msiexec.exe" hangs. The fix is normally to check in "Task manager" for those process and if you find "setup.exe" kill that process. If you find "msiexec.exe" only, you will most likely need to wait for it to finish. It may help to restart the machine. If you are brave you can try to kill those processes also.

Above help is provided as is without any guaranty. But I hope it will give you some ideas around the problem.
