Hello, I am facing with a problem when I try to launch the configurator.exe file with the NAV client (see the attached picture).

Try to enable debugger and look where the error is triggered. May be it will help...

Are you running the most current version? The NAV 2009 version works with 4.03, 5, and 2009.

Also when they say certain parts of the build take a while, they really mean it.

It is best to start small and become familiar with it. NAV has some out of the box (useless) functionality - but it should build okay with no changes.
You need to install all the SQL Server services needed and unhide fields on the database line if it is not the default instance, so you can specify it.
