Filtering on Employee Portal - WP Table Filter Fields

Hi all
I am setting up views in employee portal so as to limit the display in my sharepoint web part. I have tried to use the "standard filter" on the WP Table Filter Fields... Alas no luck... in fact no effect on the display.
What I want to do is show the interaction log entries but filter them by interaction type. For instance I do not want to show a certain log type "CALL HAND" I would like to show everything else.
Any help appreciated.
