How to test upgrade from 3.60 to 3.70

My company has developed a proprietary shipping program based on Navision 3.60, which is undergoing an upgrade to version 3.70. This program has its own specially created modules used in shipping and its own dimensions but otherwise it uses a lot of standard Navision features.
1. What is a good bug or defect tracking tool when it comes to testing an upgrade ?
2. Does MBS recommend a specific way to test ?
My own opinion is to base my testing on UML tools and do a simple Black box test using a web-based browser like Teamatic, Bugzero, Bugzilla or Bug-track. Am I off-course ?

Can you people suggest me how to test upgradation of navision from 3.70 to 4.0.
