PDFCreator Malware

Not really a Navision issue, but I know a lot of Navision users use it for printing PDFs, especially since Rashed's great Tip How to save Navision Reports as PDF so I thought it appropriate to post here.

The good news is that PDFCreator now support Vista, the bad news is that the Vista version now comes with a built in virus. In version 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 you have the option not to install the Malware, but unfortunately last months release 0.9.8 even if you untick the option, you will still have the malware installed and your IE and FireFox wrecked.

If you need 0.9.6 or 7 they can be downloaded at Filehippo.

I will be following Rashed's blog and moving over to Bullzip.

For more info use google to search for PDFCreator Malware.

Unfortunately Bullzip is not free for organizations with more than 10 users. I posted an article to the Tips & Tricks section that details how to use an installation settings file to install PDFCreator without the toolbar (and without prompting the user).

    Thank you Brett,

I really like PDF Creator, and if I don't have to change it will save me a lot of work.

    Thanks for sharing this.

By the way, cost was not the reason for moving to PDF Creator, I would gladly pay for it.

Actually I was searching the net a couple of years back for a good PDF creator, and my client had already purchased 2 or 3 products to try them out, but they were all junk including Adobe which they had already purchased for all their users, but it was unusable for integrating with Navision.

Oddly whilst searching google for a suitable product I found Rashed's post and thus tried out, and really liked, PDF Creator.

My gut feeling is that someone will take the source code of 0.9.7 and fork out to a new product, and this developer that did all the initial great work will be left behind for his stupidity. There are much better ways to make money out of software than this.
