KIT BOM Component Shortage List

My client is using the Kitting function on NAV 5.00 and would like to determine the following:
1. How much of each KIT component is needed. The kit may be multi-level BOM.
2. How much of the components needs to either be kitted (pre-assembled) or purchased. (ie some sort of multi-level shortage list for kits)
Seems like what they want is a simple MRP system for Kits. They do not have the budget for the 2 MRP granules, so MRP is not a viable alternative.
Is there a report or function that does this?

Does that handle Multi Level BOMs?David Singleton0 -
nope one level.
Most kits are one level so it should be ok for majority of items. It could be modified for multilevel0 -

I think the cost to modify this for multi-level BOM could be as much as simply going with the out of the box solution.David Singleton0 -
Just Did something Similiar for a DB where i imported KIT objects.
There are 2 reports in normal NAV without kitting that specifically look at bom Calculations and replinshment
Based off the BOM Journal
Type ID Name Modified Version List Date Time BLOB Size Compiled
3 807 BOM - Requirement Planning No NAVW13.00 01-06-08 12:00:00 37384 Yes
3 808 BOM - Requirement Calculation No NAVW13.00 01-06-08 12:00:00 19836 Yes
I amended them to use KIT bom instead of Bill of materials and it works famirly well.
It maybe be worth you looking at0 -
Yes most Kits are single level, however for this client, they may go down to a second level, and need the ability to quickly disassemble.
Thanks jannestig. Would you mind posting your objects and I can take a look at it?
Much appreciated folks!0
