We have released an order that used a raw material with a wrong unit price relative to its base UOM - ie base UOM is supposed to be sq in. but the price entered in the item journal positive adjustment when the item qty was adjusted was per yard. Needless to say, the consumtion amount shot up to tens of thousands of the correct amount.
Is there a way to correct the consumtion amount after the release? How do we go about it?
Thanks for the help.

Let's say you had the following:
Date Entry Type UOM Qty Cost Entry No
01 Jan 2004 | Positive Adjustment | EACH | 50 | 50 | 1
10 Jan 2004 | Positive Adjustment | METRE | 10 | 10 | 2
11 Jan 2004 | Consumption | EACH | -1 | -0.4 | 3
Take a look at Entry No. 2. This Positive Adjustment was posted with a Unit of Measure of METRE, but
the cost that was used is equal to the cost per EACH. This means that the consumption entry (3) used
an incorrect cost of 0.4, instead of 1.
Depending on what the unit of measure (and resulting quantities) should have been, the following must be done:
IF ONLY THE UNIT OF MEASURE WAS INCORRECT, AND THE QUANTITY WAS CORRECT, THEN DO THE FOLLOWING
To correct this, we must do the following:
STEP 1: Post a Negative Adjustment on the 10'th of Jan 2004 with the same information as was used in the
Positive Adjustment Entry 2.
STEP 2: Post another Positive Adjustment on the 10'th of Jan 2004 with the correct information.
The 2 entries will look as follows:
Date Entry Type UOM Qty Cost Entry No.
----
10 Jan 2004 Negative Adjustment METRE -10 -10 4
10 Jan 2004 Positive Adjustment EACH 10 10 5
Run the Adjust Cost Item Entries. The cost on the Consumption entry (because it is a Negative Entry) will
be adjusted to a more accruate cost based on the new entries we have posted.
The total picture will now look as follows:
Date Entry Type UOM Qty Cost Entry No.
01 Jan 2004 Positive Adjustment EACH 50 50 1
10 Jan 2004 Negative Adjustment METRE -10 -10 4
10 Jan 2004 Positive Adjustment EACH 10 10 5
10 Jan 2004 Positive Adjustment METRE 10 10 2
----
TOTAL UP TO 10 Jan 2004 60 60
AVERAGE COST = 60/60 = LCY 1
11 Jan 2004 Consumption EACH -1 0.4 3
IF THE UNIT OF MEASURE WAS CORRECT, BUT THE QUANTITY WAS INCORRECT, THEN DO THE FOLLOWING
STEP 1: Post a Negative Adjustment on the 10'th of Jan 2004 with the same information as was used in the
Positive Adjustment Entry 2.
STEP 2: Post another Positive Adjustment on the 10'th of Jan 2004 with the correct information, i.e:
Unit of Measure = METRE, but the Cost Amount must be changed to what it should have been.
Enjoy..:-)
