Service Management -Item population of Sevice item worksheet

In Service Order Management In The Case of where the Item ( ITEM X) of the Service Item has an assembly list or is using Kitting with components
One can see the components of the service Item ( ITEM X) itself but When one creates a service contract against this Item there
is no update on the Field QTY on Service Order for ITEM X.

You must insert the ITEM X on the service item worksheet to see any demand for this item itself. This seems to me to either be incorrect as a demand for ITEM X should be created as soon as the Service Order is created, or an open Gap MS left for partner customisation.
Just seeing if this an agreed upon point or should i read that manual one more time
