Reporting from multiple Navision servers Servers

Our client has 9 Navision 2.6 installations. for in-house technical issues they stick with Native database.Now the problem is that they cannot restore all companies(from 9 installations) into one database because of size limitation on Native database.
They want to retrieve database information from the 9 companies in one report.
e.g. they will want to compare the last purchase price of a given item in the 9 companies.
I was able to achieve such succesfully with CFront OCX utility in Microsoft Excel.
I want to know if there is a better option. e.g. is Navision ODBC with Crystal report better or is it better to use C Language.what is the most efficient approach.
