Sounds like you're talking about the Service Management module.
At a high level you can do the following:
Create service items and orders
Dispatch resources to work on orders
Add warranty information to items
Create service contracts
I would download the training material / flyers from partnersource / customersource if you have access. That will give you a better understanding of what it can do. Also it costs about $20,000 in the US if you are on module based licensing. That might influence if you even want to spend the time researching it.
