Production Order Date Vs Sales Shipement Date

Hi,

I made a Sales Order with shipment date as 14Apr09. I created a seperate 'Released Production Orders' with the Production Posting date as 16Apr09 for the same item. Now when I try to post the Sales order with the Shipment date prior the Product date, system allows me to post the entry!

Can anybody tell is there any setup to be completed for this validation.

Well you can obviously ship the stock early if you have it - did you complete production early?

You can also go negative stock unless you have bins or item tracking.

I therefore presume you just decided to pick, ship and invoice something you did not have - which NAV allows you to do, if you want, in set circumstances. Obviously in the real world processing this would not happen, but it does give you the flexibility to allow it to happen.
