Hi,

We are having 2 NAS servers in our environment and each server has 20 NAS services. The system is catering to 700 intranet users.

We are experiencing a strange problem for some time. The NAS goes in Idle state and stop reading from MSMQ i]The DB > Information > Session shows the NAS being idle.[/i. The system works fine for one-two days and suddenly the NAS goes in idle state. We try to resolve the issue by restarting the NAS services but it againg goes in Idle state. In this process this is resolved after 1-1.5 hours. ](*,)

We also do not see any deadlock during this period.

We are using version 4.0SP3.

Please provide your guidence on how to resolve the issue?

Best Regards,
Mukesh

Maybe a dumb question, but there's not some sort of power save feature on the servers to hibernate after a certain time or anything, is there?

Is there some type of load balance on the servers? Perhaps one box is enough to handle all of the requests and the second server is never being used, and thus goes idle.

Check the Event Viewer for around the time that they go idle. There could be something in there.

    Just thoughts.

    Hi matttrax

No There is no power save feature active on servers.

Is there some type of load balance on the servers? Perhaps one box is enough to handle all of the requests and the second server is never being used, and thus goes idle.
There is also no Load Balancing on server. We are sending 1 request to server 1 and another to server 2.

In normal situations, the services never shows idle time more than 10 seconds.

Check the Event Viewer for around the time that they go idle. There could be something in there.
There is nothing extra ordinary, we could analyze in the event viewer.

    Hi FrAnGoX,

There is no specific event coming at that instance however there are there events keeps coming the the event log even when there is no issue. To avoid this we have included navsql.exe in the exception list of McAfee.
