Copy only numeric values from a code field

i tried searching the forum for this, but i could not find anything - maybe i was searching with the wrong keywords...

anyhow, anybody have a suggestion for copying only the numeric elements of a Code value?

for example, I have ship-to codes SAM 1234, 1714 PR, WHSE 9568. Is there a way to 'translate' these to 1234, 1714, 9568 respectively? I do not need to actually store the numeric value in the system, but i do need to derive it and output it to a flatfile as part of a vendor requirement.

didn't think of DELCHR when i first searched. that thought popped in as i scrolled through online help.
