I have a Nav4 sp3 sql server database which all of a sudden does not allow navision sql clients to access it. When trying to connect (using database authentication) the following error is shown. The SQL Server cannot be found.
This has been working fine for months.
Any ideas? The server can be successfully pinged it is just Nav that cannot access the server!

Which version of SQL Server do you use? We had a simmilar problem with SQL Server 2008. The solution was to enable TCP/IP.

Check that your SQL Server 2005 is running & look for any errors in the Event Log

Did you try using the TCP/IP address in the server name instead of the name. It could be that there is a problem resolving the name.
