We are implementing AX 2009 for our head office we have 2-3 branch offices in other cities and we wanted some of our staff from the remote office to work on AX 2009. I would like to know the best method to achieve this task? Some one recommended me Citrix would do the job, but I need to know full info such as how the offices will connect via Internet or what and any VPN requirements etc.,

Depends how many users are in your remote office...
we are using navision 4 and Citrix Presentation server 4.5 to let remote access for 50-60 users in a delicated 2M LAN...work well, except some server reboot around 1-2 month needed.
We will going to use AX 2009 soon with Citrix.
An alternative would be dailing Cisco ASA 5510 firewall and Cisco vpn client and remote in the office and (RDP to map the application) by terminal services.0
