Multiple AOS instances with a single database

Hi All,
I wanted to know if we can have multiple AOS instances in a single computer with a single database.
Actually i am having 1 AOS instance that has been upgraded from AX 4.0 to AX2009 and for devolpment purposes , i want to have another AOS instance of AX 2009 to be installed on my local system, so as to have the idea of new functionality of ax 2009.
So would it make any difference in the individual working of both these instances. If Yes, Please do mention that HOW??
