Can any one please tell me the difference between Sales Credit memo and Sales Return Order?

Not exactly as the functionality usage goes beyond. Return order is used when there is physical movement of goods from the customer to our company. Credit memo can be used where there is deduction in the bill amount due to quality, discount etc.

Further in Indian scenario the impact on the excise is different.

with credit memo also there will be movement in goods.am right?

cant we do deduction in the bill amount due to quality, discount etc. while invoicing the return order?

The question is not what we can do but why 2 functionalities have been made.
Return Order is for transactions where goods are returned by customer (meaning a physical movement) and credit memo for rest of the stuff.

Credit memo does not gives the option of receipt only which is used to check the material and to decide whether to accept the rejected goods or not.
