How to check a Code variable empty

Hey folks..
I have a form which is table independent. :shock:
I have a assigned 3 variables all of them are of datatype code.
Now i am in a scenario that i want to check these code fields are empty or not :roll:
I tried testfield n isempty..Both are not working ](*,) ](*,)
Could anyone helpme out on this :-k
