On Navision V5 is there a report for Inventory valuation, say for the top 20%, I wish to check which items have the most value as a proportion of total inventory.
Yes I think so, this gives a report by qty and then the value of the stock. I want to show top 10 by value not qty.
The report at the moment shows the top inventory as labels with a low value, where we may have one item in stock with a higher value but this is not on the report.
Unless I am doing something wrong!

Maybe mine is modified - but on the options tab I have options to pick:
Top Qty or
Top Sales or
Top Value or
Bottom Qty or
Bottom Sales or
Bottom Value
My version does not look like yours, reding the help text the version I have uses this report to show sales.
To export my stock valuation to excel is a big document, my stock sheet has over 100 pages.

The object that Harry is using is the NA version. My guess is that the inventory value option is not on the WW version.
Perhaps, you can ask your solution partner to get the NA version of the report for you.
My guess is that the inventory value option is not on the WW version.
I wonder why that is? It would be useful to all.
Because the inventory value on this report is not accurate. It's only accurate if you're running it as of right now. You cannot backdate this report and expect the inventory value to match your inventory valuation report.

What does that actually mean
It's not available to everyone because it should not be used as an Inventory Valuation?
I'm wondering why the NA has it and the WW doesn't?
Having the option, if you want it, should be available. Maybe somebody want's to know what there Top Inventory Value Items are right now.
Only we're (NA Version) allowed to know? Who decided that :-k
The As of Date argument for valuation date does not apply. So it's not the reason.
My guess why it isn't in W1 version is because people who are building the W1 version are people who add features to W1 are hard to convince. They go by the very minimalistic aproach.
The idea of Navision was to keep the core product and anything added would be something that ISV would implement vertical solutions.
Lately they've realized that doesn't work and they've mentioned that they will be moving localization into W1.
For example Kitting should be in W1, it's not.
I would also add that MS NA developers who do the localization have to suggest it to W1, and they are not doing it.

I am on version 4.0 unmodified and mine is the almost exactly like this,
Except is option boxes, which would get you the same thing
It will work assuming there are no abnormal posting dates.
Anywho, for quick and dirty calculation of inventory valuation, generic's solution will work. But I wouldn't recommend the client to use this report to replace the Inventory Valuation report.

from his first questions it appears he just wants to get a list of his top items, not a complete inventory valuation report.
in fact this report only can list the top 99 items, so it really is just a top item report, and only if you only want to look at the top 99 of them.
Thanks for all the comments guys, sounds like I opened a can of worms!
Cutting through all the comments, can anyone say if there is a std report for showing the top ** percent or top ** qty, inventory value as of now.
We have have thousands of item numbers, but I want to see which ones are making up the majority of of our inventory value.
Comments
check the options tab for "Inventory Value"

This is NOT a modification. It's in standard NAV. It's been there since a long time ago.

anyone who wants to take a try at it, I made a copy. Your probably have to change Sales($) to Sales(VAT) or something similar.

There are many things that are not accurate but are in W1.
Except is option boxes, which would get you the same thing
option boxes are
largest
smallest
then
Sales
Qty
Inventory Value
No...
But if you ran the report with date filter and you got it to match w/ your inventory valuation, then good for you.
Just looking at the Cost Amount (Actual) field is not sufficient to get the inventory valuation of the company when back dating is concerned.

You would need to include "Cost amount (Expected)". But that's a bug in the report
Otherwise the report will work fine.
