Is it possible to create a purchase is order in company A and automatically create a corresponding sales order in company B?
I have a scenario where company B manufactures products and Company A sells them so I was hoping that there would be a quick way to do this based on the Purchase Order so that we would not have to mannualy create the sales order.

What you are describing is the Intercompany module in Nav but work slightly differently. This sends the sales order from company A and once approved becomes a purchase order in company B.

I'm not saying it can't be done correctly, just be careful. And as far as I know if you want it to be automatic you will have to write the code for it.

It is also possible (as mentioned by others) with intercompany module (however, there are quite many things to consider when implementing intercompany).

I'm curious to know - Did you implement the Intercompany module or did your partner code this directly?
If you coded this - what was to reason for not using the Intercompany?

I'd inherited a database with this customization.
Basically the demand was as such:
1. Client not going to pay (their previous system supports this feature, if Nav does not they no Nav for them) They wanted something direct, not a workaround, which they felt Intercompany is for their setup & they are not going to pay for workaround
2. Too many clicks, too troublesome to retrieve (users not very IT/workflow savvy)
3. Existing open ledger entries due M&A of customers, which Nav designers were unable/refused to handle

I think this intracompany tool out of the box is a little cumbersome to use (and there can be a lot of clicks) but there are reasons for it to be that way, as there can be setup and other differences between the 2 companies that must be accounted for in the module. With some form automations and/or some wizards to help the users I think this process can be easily streamlined to work for a company whose users aren't very computer savy.
