ADCS and connection type

Hi,

I have done ADCS installation and my miniform controls are good way on under construction.
Every things go fine with HyperTerminal and Loopback adapter, but now I wondering what protocols are permissible in real life situation?

My Handheld device support WLAN, EDGE and GPRS connections. Are WLAN only way to keep connection online or how about gprs?
If I'm correct, the GPRS keep a connection alive and packet are moving only with transactions, is this enough for ADCS.
If I don't need WLAN access points, then I can reduce with a cost, a lot.
