How to generate the automatic 'Serial NO' in Line Form ???

I want to generate 'Sno' in Line form.

Eg: the fields are used in the line form

Sno ProductCategy ProductGroup ItemNo ItemDesc .......

1. When i create new entry in the Line form, it should be generating 'SNo'(1,2,3....) automatically ???

2. I can enter the value in Line form either by selecting ProductCatrgy or ItemNo or any field of the LIne form by the time want to generate the 'SNO' automatically ????

What is the Logic and trigger should use this ????
