Barcode implementation in Microsoft dynamics NAV 5.0

hi friends,
i want to add barcode to an item.and i need to scan these items through barcode reader.i am new to this technology,can u please tell me how to do this in step wise.and also how to integrate barcode reader with NAV.

Some barcode readers will act as on a keyboard, so everything you scan will be processed as if it were just entered it manually. In this case you just make a textbox on a form that will have to be active, and code what you want to do with the barcode in the OnAfterValidate of that control.
