Hi,

One my client using Nav 3.7 with SQL 2000 (No Service Pack). No of users are 85, out of which around 55 users are online. Volume of sales invoice is 1000 per day and total transaction is 1500 per day. Posting process is very slower as well its blocking (lock) frequent ( one or two times a day).
Could u please suggest how to improve the performance (prevent Lock).

1. Its hardware related problem or what.
2. SQL 2000 - Need to upgrade any service pack
3. Migration of Nav 3.7 to latest version - Database migration or Application Migration.
4. or any other suggestion.

Thanks & Regards,
Ilayaraja. V
Regards,
Raja

It's all you have mentioned and more. I suggest you search this forum on performance / tunning etc. It is a huge topic and there is a lot of info about it.

    1) I would start to upgrade SQL2000 to the latest SP. In SP4 a (BIG) performance problem with cursors is solved and NAV is using cursors to access the DB...
    2) Upgrade NAV to 4.0SP3 latest hotfix. This version is best suited for tuning by specialists. Another possibility is to upgrade to 5.0SP1 latest hotfix (or also NAV2009). This version is probably faster out-of-the-box (=no SQL tuning).
    3) check the forum for other info (index-tuning, hardware configuration,...)
