I am ready to smack my computer now. I am trying to install NAV2009 and cannot get past some steps that shoudnt be so problematic.
I attached the database manually, and changed the config parameters to reflect correct database name, but then i get the error message about Object Change Listener and not having permissions.
Tried everything in the manual. and nothing works. I only have one instance of SQL Developer Edition.
Seems like the installation procedures arent very straightforward. Or am i missing something? Maybe i should try installing it on a server OS, instead of XPSP3? Its only for testing/developing/upgrade purposes.
Any direction is appreciated.

I have seen this error happen before, but with different root causes.
1. Your Windows does not have sufficient priviledges on the SQL Server. Set up your account with the sysadm server role. Note, that you cannot rely on indirect permissions through Windows group memberships when Vista User Access Control (UAC) is turned on.
2. A privious installation has left the database files (mdf+ldf) sitting in the \Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Database\ folder and the SQL Server has been reinstalled. This will result in the installer trying to attach an orphaned database. If this is the case, then you should just delete the files, run the installation once where you select to remove the database components, and run the installation once again where you select to install the demo database.
If this does not solve the problem, then I need to know if you are installing on another instance than MSSQLSERVER and/or what account is running the SQL Server service.

I
- Is the NAV Server and SQL Server on the same box or not?
- What account is the NAV Server service running as?

This might due to the SQL instance service is not started yet. Try to start your service of the sql instance before you do installation.
