Double byte character 2009

Hello
In Classic client the fin.stx had to be changed to enable double byte characters. Is there anything special that needs to happen to Service tier and RT client?
Also has MS released the fin.stx for 2009 classic clients?
When are they going to move to Unicode. I'm guessing when they get rid of classic client. Which I'm guessing is 2 years from now.
