Backups, NAV Database Server, and NAS

bhalpinbhalpin Member Posts: 309
Hi all.

I've searched for some info on this, but have come up empty.

When a NAV database server is used, how are scheduled backups performed?

Obviously, backup software runs to backup the database. But, if a client is logged in, does that prevent the backup from occuring? (Because the file is open ...)

And, if backups are prevented when a client is logged in, can/does NAS cause the same problem? (It is technically a client logged into the database after all.)

:-k

Thanks in advance!

Bob

look for hotcopy. On the installation CD there are pdf files that will give you more info.

    Thanks', I found it.

For others: The hotcopy utility is a NAV command-line backup program that copies the database to another location. The backup is uncompressed. The backup can e performed while clients are logged in.
