Item with Many variants - Cost problem??

Hi NAV Experts,

My client requirement is, they r having various items like "Metal". Metal has many variants such as "12 MM Metal", "15 MM Metal" etc...

But at the same time "12 MM Metal" cost is different from "15 MM Metal" and so on...

My doubt is

1. Is it possible to assign different cost to the item variants?
2. what costing method i have to use?
3. What will be the financial impact?

Hi Divya ,

Item with Varriant Code makes a new Item that may have different Purchase price or Sales price.
Search the forum..

NAVISION should not allow to post the following Sales Entries

in this case u vl get availability error.
but u can post the SO.

Yes. We r using Location too.. It is showing availbility error, but it should stop the sales post..

how many locations you are using for that item.

let me know the location setup.

u want variant code in SO for dat item r all items?

we r using more than 10 Locations. Locations setup has Require Receipt YES and Require Shipment YES

I want variant code in SO for that item(with variants) only.

then u need to write code for that.

while posting or creating whse.shipment from SO u need to check the variant code.

You only told me tat we have to do the customization for "Variant code" Mandatory.

I thought same like "Bin code Mandatory" as "Variant code Mandatory" in navision. But that is not available in navision....

den create a new field lik bin code and do the customization with the help of bin code mandatory.
