Upgrade 3.6 to 5.0 SP1

Hello,
I have to upgrade 3.6 with major changes on service management to 5.0 SP1. Has anyone done this job before? Are there any major problems that could appear?
My approach is to use developer's toolkit. I have been suggested to use an intermediary step 3.6 -> 4.0 SP3 -> 5.0 SP1, but I don't see the point of this. What do you think about this?

MBS don't supply at upgrade tool to do 3.60 => 5.0 in ONE step.
It's 3.60 => 3.70 => 5.0
or
it's 3.60 => 4.00 => 5.0
