I am looking for a decent Retail POS Solution, I know there is a lot of them out, but i am looking for "The POS Solution" that is robust, proven, and just works no matter what you throw at it. And of course integrates with Dynamics NAV seamlessly.
One of the solutions that i am looking at is LSRetail. Anyone had experience with LSRetail? I am looking to recommend the solution to one of my customers.
Thanks

Yes, we have experience with LS-Retail. I think it is one the best products in NAV for Retail. LS-Retail is pretty robust and flexible. It has it's few 'thing's but in general it's a very good product.Roelof de Jonghttp://www.wye.com0

Would you be able to name those "things" that make it a pain?Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist

Well, LS-Retail has many features and it takes time to set it up properly.
As a developer, developing in LS-Retail is sometimes a bit hard since many objects are not really following Navision standards in coding. So it might be hard sometimes to find your way through the code.
But in general they have a lot of cool stuff embedded.
One of the real powerfull tools is the 'Replicator' The LS-Retail replicator is used to replicate data between stores. So, each store can have it's own local database. The replicator can synchronize data to the head-office database.
But like I said, LS-Retail is pretty solid and is the main LS-Retail vertical on the market.Roelof de Jonghttp://www.wye.com0 -

Sometimes, I feel like the person developing did not know navision at all. Basic things like opening a list form or card form are done improperly.
BTW their replication is pain in the butt if somethings goes wrong or not setup. You basically need an IT person constantly monitor it.
Sometimes I think I can write a better replication method using web service.0 -

Anyone tried or heard about using SQL Server Replication (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms151198.aspx) for NAV tasks like this one?0 -

Exactly thats a fact.
But still I find it work good with Data Director.
One of our clients is using it and has got 400 stores, out of which more that 50 are live and everyday they are going live with 3 stores on an average.
With just 512 kbps broadband connectivity, it is working perfect without any delays in data transmission.Regards,
Deep

The best way is to contact LS-Retail directly, try to become a reseller and to be certified.
Unless you are an end-user instead. Then contact your local NAV var.

I've been working with LS Retail for a few years now and I can tell you that as problematic as its replication is, it is your best choice.
There are two reasons for this:
1) The data director operates in a disconnected manner. This is essentially the only solution for a low-bandwidth, high drop connection (as in the sort of connection you have in most retail shops)
2) It has reporting and resolution on the replication within the NAV application. None of the other solutions I've seen have this and consequently, addressing issues related to replication are too time consuming.0 -
