Business Analytics for navision 4.0

Neha_MarwahaNeha_Marwaha Member Posts: 31
I have configured Business analytics for navision 4.0 successfully, but when a new entry is generated in navision it will not be updated in business analytics.

for example:when a new customer is created in Navision 4.0,it should also be visible in the reports of business analytics, but it will not get updated.

Please help me to know:
How the data of navision get updated in business analytics.

There should be some DTS packages in SQL that execute to update the analsysis servcies cubes (SQL 2000). In SQL 2005 this is all managed through Integration Services.

Have you run (or scheduled) any thing to run and update the cubes with Data from Navision?

    Thanx for your reply.

I configured Business Analytics successfully, but now when I created new cube and run the configurator,it display an error:
"Configurator.exe has encountered a problem and need to be closed".
I am not able to resolve it.

I haven't experienced this error before, but I've done more work with the older DTS based version of business analytics then the SQL 2005 version.

However it does look like you're not the first person to experience something like this. Check out the support article on Partnersource: https://mbs.microsoft.com/knowledgebase/KBDisplay.aspx?WTNTZSMNWUKNTMMYXUPYZQPOUXNXSPSYOMPRYORVUYTULPMRPKZYYSYSPXLSLZKM

Actually it looks like there have been quite a few issues logged in Partnersource with Business Analytics, and I think quite a few of them are to deal with the SSIS portions of the solution.

In general I find that Business Analytics is a great idea but it's implementation can be difficult. This is because in general I find that customers have very different customizations to their base Navision modules and it's that customized data that really needs to be extracted, transformed and massaged into cubes for analysis. Those tasks and processes aren't as easily to generalize and thus it can be more cost effective to build your own processes to move data from the trasaction system (i.e. Navision) to the Datawarehous (i.e. SQL Analysis Services) and then just use the Business Analytics front end to analyze the cubes in the datawarehouse (and there are some powerful views and tools in that front end).

    Thanx for your reply.

Business Analytics is configured again :D ..and data also get updated, but I have one issue in it.
Whenever I generate a new customer or any other entry in navision it will not automatically get updated in BA.
I always have to run Configurator and then Configurator.exe to give the license program folder path and database.

    Its a manual task.

Is there is any way to update data automatically in BA?
