Lot no. not shown on Item Journal Line

I have an item with item tracking set up on the Item card. When I enter an Item Journal Line under Warehouse->Inventory->Item Journals and then add Item Tracking under Line->Item Tracking Lines, I would expect the lot no to also be shown on the Item Journal Line itself, and not just under Lines->Item Tracking Lines? Why is it not shown when I only add a single lot no? When is the lot no field on the Item Journal Line then used?

The lot number on the item journal is used internally for posting routines. It's not for manual entry of lot numbers or to look at lot numbers you entered on the item tracking screen.
