bom versions - bug?

Hi,
I reallly want to use bom versions, but I notice that:
I have bom A, I create a new version, it is version BV-001.
Now I go to bom B, I create a new version, it is version BV-002!!

Basically, regardless of which BOM you create a new version for the number series continues to increment. Is this a bug or something I do not understand correctly. How can I fix it? Any help will help me out a lot.

Well when you select the same numbering series for 2 different BOM's, what do you expect to happen? If you want numbering to start at a unique point, you will have to create a 'BOM version' numbering series for each production BOM. You could also NOT select a numbering series for the version, and manually enter the version number. You could put a little mod in place to automatically start at '001' and increase automatically from there, maybe even with a standard prefix that you set up someplace.
