Kitting and Directed Pick and Putaway

I am trying to setup kitting in a directed pick and putaway enviornment and am having issues. Does anyone know what the correct configuration is? Or any whitepapers on warehouse managment and kitting. It appears that the directed pick wants to use the in and out BOM bins on the location setup and not move the product to the shipping bin. Is that correct? Thanks in advance
