Blanket Order by Value

Hi,
We have a client that needs to manage Blanket Purchase Orders by total $$ value rather than by units. Without customization, I think we would have to procedurally create Blanket Purchase Orders using a default Item with a unit value of $0.01.

Does anyone else have suggestions/workarounds for this situation - or has anyone modified the Blanket Purchase Order to work this way?

Thanks,

Never heard of this kind of requirement but if you go with .01 cost.

So how do they keep track of inventory quantity? by value as well?

Are they using planing? Do they actually keep track of inventory ? If they are not keeping track of inventory, probably the idea of keeping item unit value at 0.01 is not bad.

If the need be then you can customize Blanket order so that it also allows transfer of g/l when you do 'Make Order', so that you are not dependent on item even

Thanks for your responses. There isn't really any tracked inventory involved. Client is a school board, so really the Blanket Purchase Order is reflective of a supplier contract with a vendor and internal pre-authorization to spend up to $X with that supplier without requiring separate POs. Sounds like just have $0.01 units will be the simplest method.
