Item Table field 7

We have previously upgraded many customers from version 2.6, 3.7 etc to 4.3. We are now upgraded many other customers to 5.0. All of our customers make extensive use of field 7 Class in the Item Table (27). While upgrading to 5.0 that field is missing from the current version. I see nothing in the Upgrade Codeunits that save off that field and put it back somewhere else. We cannot add it to the 5.0 version because it is below the 50000 line. Does anyone know why the field 7 went away and what the thinking was?

I can modify codeunit 104045 during the upgrade to move the data out to a 50000 field but this is unusual. Am I missing something?

Field 7 was used for the Web Portal or Commerce Portal. Microsoft has discontinued offering commerce portal that's why the field went away.
