Problem with Automatic Cost Adjustment settings

Hi there,

I have a problem with the Automatic Cost Adjustment routine and cannot figure out if it is a problem with setup or an issue with the update routine??

User Allowed Posting dates are set to 01/10/08..30/11/08.

G/L Posting dates are blank.

The Automatic Cost Adjustment setting on Inventory Setup is set to Week.

I am getting a problem invoicing a sales order as it is trying to post cost adjustments from July 2008???

Am I missing something in my setup here?

Umm.... What exactly is the problem? Your allow posting date allows you to post cost adjustments to July 2008.

Maybe I'm missing something, but my dates only allow me to post between 1st Oct. 2008 to 30th Nov. 2008 and these take priority over G/L Posting dates always.

Also, Automatic Cost Adjustment set to Week, I thought, would only look for cost adjustment entries one week prior to the Invoice I am trying to post. The Invoice I am trying to post is dated 28th Oct. 2008.

My first question is, why do u say my dates allow me to post into July? I don't understand that statement.

Second, why is it looking back to post cost adjustments in July when I have told the system to only look back one week?

Oh, sorry. I misread the date. I thought you set the date as Jan, 10th.

The cost adjustment process does not look at the User Setup when determining what date the cost adjustment should be posted to.

It only looks at the Allow Posting From adn Allow Posting To on the General Ledger Setup.

Ah I got that wron then. I was browsing through other posts on the issue today and obviously picked that idea up incorrectly then.

If my G/L Setup Posting dates are blank then, is it a case that a date range must be set to allow the user to post the cost adjustment? I'm just trying to find out how to best advise the customer to sort this problem.

Any advice on that would be great !

The system does not look at the allow posting dates on the User Setup. It only looks at dates on the General Ledger Setup. So if you leave them blank, you're allowing posting to any date.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for that. That's how I thought it should be working but it is not.

The G/L Posting dates are blank and user gets an error to say "Posting date is not withing Allowed Posting Date range". When I debug it I find it is throwing this error up when it tries to post a cost adjustment from July.

The General Posting Setup allow posting from date controls the earliest day you can post the adjustment into. So if you leave this blank, adjustment entries can be posted into any date.

In your case, the allow posting from on the G/L Setup is blank so the adjustments can be posted into any date. While the user setup is set to allow posting only from Oct 1st, 2008. When the ACIE is ran, you'll get an error because the user setup does not allow the user to post before 10/1/08 when the recognized adjustment from ACIE is in July.

You need to set teh G/L Setup allow posting from to 10/1/08 as well.
