Change New Fiscal Year Error

Hello,
Client is on Version 5.0. They want to change the fiscal year, but when we check the box 'New Fiscal Year' in Accounting Period form or table, we get the error "Another user has modified the record for this Accounting Period after you retrieved it from the database......"
Has anyone seen this. Interestingly enough a local copy of the database does not create this error and does allow one to check or un-check the box. This only occurs when running the client from a server database.
Running on SQL 2005 database.
