programme know that they have moved?
as in, if we put their .zup file on their home drive, a custom shortcut on their desktop which points to the standard .zupfile not a custom ID one, when the user executes the client, will it load the proper database with their settings? i understand that it should if the correct setting within the TARGET field is implemented correctly, just wanting clarification on this...if so, what would be the correct way? would it be as I have described by placing custom shortcut in All users Desktop folder so when any user logs on, they see the default icons such as IE, My Computer, My Documents, Outlook and the custom shortcut? or is there a more efficient way of implementing this?

many thanks,

You can enable roaming profile. that way their profiles gets synched during login and logoff.
You can include to synch zup files part of the profile settings.
