Can i sql syntax in Navision?

I have being wondering whether is possible to use sql commands in Navision. Sometimes i do get stuck trying to write reports which will be way easier using sql commands.
Maybe you can help me with good books title that i can use to improve my Navision skills.

But you can use ADO to get records from the DB (at the cost of an extra connection).
